Autumn 2011 - Homeopathy might save costs and prolong life
Guest author, Rainer Luedtke, Senior Researcher at the Carstens Foundation in Germany, reviews a recent cost-effectiveness study by Kooreman and Baar. Data from more than 150,000 patients of a Dutch health insurance company was analysed to compare costs and mortality in patients treated by GPs with a knowledge of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, with those of patients treated by GPs trained only in conventional medicine. The homeopathic group included 1,181 patients treated by 28 GPs. Full text
