How you can help us
You can support the HRI in different ways, such as making a donation, getting involved in fundraising events or volunteering your time and expertise.
Individual donations
For HRI, as with many charities, donations from individuals are one of the main sources of unrestricted funding. If you are a UK taxpayer, we can make your gift go further by asking you to sign a Gift Aid Declaration. This does not cost you anything, and allows us to claim back an extra 28% of the value of your gift from the Inland Revenue, making a significant difference to what we can achieve with your donation.
In memoriam gifts
People often request that mourners make a donation to charity, rather than sending flowers. If you would like to make a gift in memory of a friend or relative, please contact us and we will be able to provide you with both the appropriate Gift Aid forms and information about the way in which the gift will be put to use by HRI.
Legacies
Leaving a gift to the HRI in your will enables you to continue supporting us in our work over the long term. Legacies also avoid inheritance tax – please see the HMRC website for more information.
Fundraising events
Either taking part in or organising a fundraising event for the HRI can be a fun way to support our work. Events, however small or large, can also benefit the charity by raising awareness of our work. So far HRI supporters have come up with ideas such as a tandem skydive with the Red Devils, a free homeopathy clinic with patients paying in the form of HRI donations and running a half-marathon. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss fundraising activity ideas with us.
Volunteering your time and expertise
Support we receive is not just in the form of direct financial donations. The HRI is fortunate to have the help of volunteers who enable us to keep our administrative costs to a minimum. For example, we currently have volunteers helping us with financial administration, publishing, public relations and facilitating meetings. If you would like to help the HRI as a volunteer, please contact us.
